Job Title
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide customer service and perform typing, data-entry, clerical and filing duties for the Building Division of the Development Services department.
Essential Functions/Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesEssential duties and responsibilities include receiving submittals, tracking and processing permits, maintaining tracking data, researching building codes, coordinating inspections, maintaining documentation, processing releases of utilities, providing customer service, processing requests for inspections, receiving monies, posting departmental information, performing data entry functions, maintaining file systems, operating office equipment, preparing documentation for digital imaging, and performing related duties as required. Knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors include reviewing and analyzing data, providing guidance to citizens and developers, using various software programs, understanding construction codes, performing mathematical calculations, applying rational systems, exercising judgment and creativity, performing coordinated movements, working in a team environment, building professional relationships, offering flexibility and adaptability, communicating effectively, and passing a drug screen and background check.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED. Two (2) years previous experience in data tracking, cash receipts and automated systems usage AND/OR training and experience in the building permits field. International Code Council Permit Tech Certification or ability to obtain ICC Certification within 12 months of hire date. Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

Physical demands include talking, hearing, reaching, using hands, standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to ten (10) pounds, and having special vision requirements. Supplemental information includes the possibility of performing any other job-related duties as requested by management.
