Role Overview

Could you be our next Actuarial Assistant
? Globe Life is looking for an Actuarial Assistant to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for working primarily independently to support the execution of projects/processes related to health pricing functions, including strategy & analytics, assumption setting, rating & product development, rate filing support, reporting, data management, and modeling. This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

What

You Will Do
  • Support Enterprise Strategy, including but not limited to financial analytics, industry insights & economics, trend analytics, detailed claim review, and market analytics/competitive intelligence.
  • Pricing assumptions used to produce premium rates for existing and new products through development of experience studies, including but not limited to claims costs, persistency, lapses, and morbidity.
  • Calculation of appropriate premium levels and rating structures for new and existing insurance products.
  • Rate increase recommendations, exhibit preparation and objection responses in support of rate filing activities.
  • Documentation of analytical, rate filing and formal actuarial reporting to internal/external business partners, including but not limited to sales/underwriting, valuation, marketing, and state/federal agencies.
  • Data collection, cleaning/validation, development of data architecture, and maintenance of health actuarial data warehouse.
  • Creating and updating analytical frameworks developed to assess financial risk of insurance products.
  • Work primarily independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
  • Support execution project deliverables with direction and review by a more senior actuary.
  • Adjust or recommend enhancements in systems or products to solve problems or improve effectiveness of the Actuarial Team.
  • Focus on self-development.
What You Can Bring
  • Broad, theoretical knowledge of health insurance products, pricing methodologies, industry awareness, regulatory environment, and non-actuarial functions and their interaction with actuarial work.
  • Competency in data analysis, modeling and problem-solving skills, coupled with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and foundational knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Competency in programming skills in SQL, SAS, Python, R, VBA, or similar programming languages. Experience in any or the following is a plus:
    Columnar and relational databases (like Redshift, SQL Server, or Aurora), Data visualization and reporting tools (like Tableau, Qlik, or PowerBI), AWS Services (such as S3, Work spaces, Lambda, DMS, Glue, and Athena).
  • Ability to be a versatile, self‑motivated learner with ability to pick up new skills necessary to get the job done.
  • A strong work ethic with good time management to meet timelines and requirements.
  • Ability to be adaptable to a dynamic environment and changing priorities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
