We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:
Oversee assigned construction projects, site inspections, and observation of new construction and renovation projects.

Evenings, weekends, and work during campus closures may be required.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review and perform construction inspections for accuracy, compliance, and potential issues in the field.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable building codes and regulations, such as, but not limited to International Building Code, NFPA, TDLR, OSHA, ADA, and ASHRAE 90.1.
  • Monitor compliance with Collin College rules and regulations, state statutes, and federal regulations and laws.
  • Assist with the development and management of closeout documents.
  • Conduct inspection of contractors' work for quality, conformance to code, engineering design, and Collin College Standards.
  • Monitor/observe the work, storage, and installation of materials, and acts as a liaison between the client and the contractor. Schedule for special trade inspections (such as plumbing, electrical) with facilities shops as needed.
  • Ensure all inspection reports are properly documented and accurately filed for reference, including photo documentation.
  • Site coordination works with the contractor and the campus to ensure proper site safety coordination of site logistics.
  • Work with the contractor, project managers, and others as necessary to find solutions to problems discovered in the field.
  • Work as a technical advisor to the project managers on design, constructability, building systems, and other areas of expertise, designing with future maintenance in mind.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • General working knowledge of commercial construction with an emphasis on structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and methods, and relevant regulations and quality standards
  • Knowledge of building codes, construction documents, and construction safety standards
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed
  • Strong time-management and multi-task skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills for conveying information to campus, building representatives, vendors, contractors, facilities supervision, and co-workers.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD skills preferred
  • Ability to complete expected duties in a timely manner without constant supervision
  • Ability to interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts)
  • Ability to accept responsibility for own work and follow through on commitments
  • Ability to be punctual and follow policies and procedures for absences, time, and attendance
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions.

In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.

Frequent physical effort required.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of previous experience and/or training involving familiarity with building trades and state and local codes.
Experience working in construction for a public education institution and/or commercial setting.

Preferred
An associate's degree in construction management or a related field from an accredited institution.
Five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Journeyman electrical license or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current and maintain a State of Texas Plumbing inspector license.
