Summit Therapy is a locally-owned, therapist-owned speech and OT outpatient clinic with locations in Frisco and McKinney, TX.

We are looking for a warm, caring, dedicated teacher for children and adolescents with dyslexia to serve our community 3-4 afternoons per week.

This position is a leadership position for our flagship location (McKinney).

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with dyslexia testing and teaching. Experience in establishing a program is a plus. Currently offered at part-time (after school), this position has the potential to be full-time.

The job duties for this position include:

  • Provide community members with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Certified PDAS Appraiser (Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Knowledge of assigned curriculum (grades K-12 TEKS), State assessment objectives, and best practices for instruction
  • Knowledge of Academic goal setting process and implementation
  • Demonstrate ability to manage student’s academic needs and behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills
Experience

Successful experience as a dyslexia designee preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Evaluate and provide dyslexia services and implement an intervention plan for students in need of dyslexia services.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as determined by the needs of the assigned students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties.
  • Implement instructional/behavioral plan for assigned students
  • Provide feedback and collaborate with personnel and/or parents to coordinate the delivery of services to students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties.
  • Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties.
  • Analyze assessment data and make recommendations for improvement based on results.
  • Participate in the annual review of students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties with clinic and school personnel and parents to review progress.
  • Participate in team meetings as necessary.
  • Create an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with colleagues, students, and supervisors.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Develop and maintain professional competence through professional growth activities based on recent research and current trends in education.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Maintain a weekly log to reflect actual activities and time spent on each.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    PC computer and related technology.

    Working Conditions

    Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other clinical equipment.
