Special Education Aide – Inclusion Support

• Assist the special education teacher with the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in inclusive and special education settings
• Prepare instructional materials
• Maintain administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide assistance to substitute teachers
• Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including lifting when required
• Help manage student behavior
• Support instructional needs according to students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Assist with personal care as appropriate
• Learn and adapt to each student’s special needs
• Work with individual students or small groups
• Supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom
• Keep the teacher informed about individual students’ special needs or problems
• Maintain confidentiality
• Participate in staff development training programs and special events as assigned
• Implement, support, and document behavioral intervention strategies and/or provide school health, related, and personal care services as needed

• High School diploma or GED
• Associate degree or two years of higher education preferred
• If hired, must complete SBEC certification process to obtain an Educational Aide Certification
• Ability to work with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of general office equipment
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and with frequent interruptions
• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs
• Must assume shared responsibility for the health, safety, and confidentiality of students and adults
• Candidates must be able to fulfill all assigned responsibilities and duties

Demonstrates the ability to assist students with disabilities by implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), managing behavior, and providing personal care while maintaining confidentiality and supporting instructional needs. Capable of adapting to various student needs and working effectively in a collaborative educational environment.
