The successful candidate will drive the design, development, and testing of innovative power system solutions, contributing to the advancement of next-generation energy technologies. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, hands-on experience with LV/MV systems, and a passion for research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
Design, simulate, and develop electrical systems and components for low voltage (up to 1kV) and medium voltage (1kV–38kV) applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, UL).
  • Prototyping and Testing:
Build and test prototypes of power system components, including transformers, switch gear, circuit breakers, and control systems, to validate performance and reliability.
  • Research and Innovation:

Master’s degree is preferred. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 8 or more years of qualified work experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D or design of low voltage and/or medium voltage power systems.
  • Proven track record in designing and testing electrical components such as transformers, switch gear, or power distribution systems.
  • Experience with power electronics, protection systems, and control systems is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of power system components, including circuit breakers, relays, and busbars.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC).
  • Knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical) for schematic and layout design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with renewable energy integration (e.g., solar, wind, energy storage, microgrids) into LV/MV systems.
  • Familiarity with smart grid technologies or IoT applications in power systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, gloves, etc.).
