Job Summary
We are seeking an Antenna Design Engineer II to support the development of advanced low‑observable antennas and ultra‑wideband phased arrays. The role is ideal for new M.S. EE graduates who excel in deep technical analysis and hands‑on engineering.
What You Will Do- Provide technical solutions to challenging problems involving antenna and AESA applications such as radar, electronic warfare, communications, and direction finding.
- Use advanced computational electromagnetic (CEM) software (HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi) to design, model, and predict performance of antennas and apertures including spiral, sinuous, Vivaldi, patch, slot, horn, and ultra‑wideband tightly coupled dipole arrays (TCDA).
- Create, refine, and optimize antenna designs using full‑wave solvers, run parametric studies, and balance electrical, mechanical, low‑observable, and environmental constraints.
- Perform EM simulation and/or test to verify compliance with antenna‑level and system‑level requirements, performing root‑cause investigations when issues arise.
- Participate in testing of RF hardware for key performance metrics such as VSWR, insertion loss, gain, efficiency, polarization, and radar cross section (RCS).
- Support antenna prototyping, build reviews, troubleshooting, and integration activities in collaboration with Operations, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering.
- Contribute to internal and customer‑funded R&D programs involving antenna, phased‑array, or RF component/system design.
- Document technical approaches, design decisions, and verification results in engineering reports and formal design reviews.
- Travel Requirements:
Less than 10% annually. - This 1st shift role will be 100% on‑site and based in McKinney, TX.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant RF engineering experience.
- Experience with design, fabrication, and/or testing of conformal antennas, apertures, and passive RF components such as radiating elements, radomes, power dividers, couplers, RF transitions, multilayer boards, and/frequency selective surfaces (FSS).
- Experience designing and/or testing ultra‑wideband phased‑array antennas such as Tightly Coupled Dipole Arrays (TCDA), Vivaldi, Sliced Notch, and/or Planar Ultra‑Wideband Modular Arrays (PUMA).
- Experience with EM modeling tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, or SENTRi.
- Experience performing testing using RF equipment including VNAs and far‑field antenna ranges.
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in RF/Microwave circuits.
- 3.5+ cumulative GPA.
- Electromagnetic modeling and simulation experience with conformal antennas or airborne apertures.
- Knowledge of printed wiring board (PWB) or printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication processes, stack‑up design, and design rules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills supported by publications, technical presentations, or student awards.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex antenna or RF performance issues and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, test automation, fixture design, or specialized antenna range measurements.
- Work on antennas that go onto real platforms and deliver real‑world mission impact.
- Access to a broad range of antenna technologies in industry (AESA, UWB, low‑observable, conformal, EW, comms, radar, sensing).
- Deep technical career growth supported by nationally recognized experts.
- Collaborative environment with multidisciplinary engineering excellence.
