At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

This role performs hands-on testing of electronic and mechanical assemblies in a classified production environment within the Advanced Product Center (APC) at the McKinney, TX site. Test operations include both production and development/prototype units. The test technician will work directly with engineering on production testing and troubleshooting tasks.

What You Will Do

  • Perform hands-on testing of electronic and mechanical assemblies in a classified production environment. Work is performed using detailed work instructions and automated test procedures — attention to detail and strict adherence to documented procedures are essential.
  • Clock into the production tracking system, participating in tier meetings for task assignment, reviewing work instructions, preparing test stations for operation, and verifying calibration status of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Visual inspections of all units, cables, and connectors prior to test.
  • Load assemblies into test stations by installing protective covers and connecting multi-pin and coax connectors in accordance with work instructions. Some test configurations require torquing of connectors or fixtures.
  • Core test tasks include connecting the unit to the test set and selecting and running the appropriate test software for each step in the test sequence. Technicians monitor signal generators, power consumption, temperatures, and test output throughout the cycle. Some tests run automated sequences; others are run manually, with the technician stepping to the next test as each completes. Results are interpreted iron mental chamber tests follow the same flow with the unit loaded into the chamber for the duration of the cycle.
  • Troubleshoot and fault-isolation tasks on units that have failed test — checking wiring, inspecting the test set, cycling power on test equipment, verifying connections, and isolating problems between the test environment (test station, interface adapter, test cables) and the unit under test. Troubleshooting requires a higher level of understanding of the test process and signal flow, as the sequence does not follow a linear start-to-finish flow.

    Technicians coordinate with engineering to keep the unit in flow and support the failure write-up and corrective action process.
  • Document in the appropriate production system as each operation is completed. When errors, discrepancies, or issues are identified during test, technicians are expected to stop work and bring the issue to their supervisor and supporting engineer immediately.
Work is performed at both seated workstations and standing positions throughout the shift. Testing is performed at station consoles, at fixture benches, and at chamber-mounted stations depending on the phase of the test.

* On-Site working at our McKinney, TX location, 1st shift. Overtime may be required on occasion.
* Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
