System Safety Engineer

Location

McKinney, Texas.

• Support the execution of the safety strategy for the program and integrate system safety/HSI features into the product in compliance with contract and funding.
• Integrate safety tasks and activities into the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and support the program schedule.
• Engage with the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for technical guidance, artifact review, and attending customer reviews.
• Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues.
• Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.
• Analyze engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
• Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
• Participate in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
• Interface with stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Assist with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
• Assist with software safety technical reviews.
• Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance.

• Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses (task series 100–400).
• Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
• Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines with Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Hardware Engineering.
• Experience interfacing with other engineering functions and managing working groups.

• Salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
