Job OverviewThe Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is seeking a Section Leader for the Advanced Sensors Thermal Analysis Section. The Section Leader will manage all aspects of the section, including staffing, development, training, hiring, succession planning, performance appraisals, compensation planning, and promotions. The role also requires providing technical leadership, fostering customer relationships, forecasting labor requirements, and ensuring successful program execution through expert thermal analysis oversight.
WhatYou Will Do
- Lead a team of thermal engineers and conduct performance development, appraisal, salary planning, and career coaching.
- Provide technical oversight of employees, monitor program execution, and deliver subject‑matter expertise for program and proposal efforts.
- Assist in proposal preparation, including estimating scope, completing accurate engineering estimates, and preparing BOEs for proposal activities.
- Manage weekly time‑card approval, host section meetings, and ensure adherence to company policies and security procedures.
- Maintain positive customer relationships and coordinate with cross‑disciplinary teams to achieve program objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree with additional years of experience).
- Experience in thermal analysis using ANSYS, STAR‑CCM+, FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, or equivalent tools.
- Strong mechanical principles knowledge for solving classical thermal analysis problems, including both FEA and non‑FEA approaches.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- U.S. citizenship required; the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued Security Clearance (DoD Secret) is mandatory.
- Availability to work onsite in a closed and secured space in McKinney, TX.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- 10+ years of professional experience in thermal analysis of complex systems across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Prior experience as a technical or engineering team leader.
- Experience in electronics cooling, aerodynamic heating analyses, and leading thermal testing (planning, execution, data reduction, correlation).
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems and support of EACs, BOEs, and proposals.
- Ability to present technical information to external customers and to travel to government and other facilities as required.
- ABET accreditation (preferred but not required).
- Competitive salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD.
