Principal Material and Process Engineer position within the Material and Process team in McKinney, Texas. Responsibilities include material tests and analyses, production hardware empirical testing, special engineering assignments, emerging program technical support, and new product integration activities. The role collaborates with manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, supply chains, operational value stream, and program authority to resolve pressing technical design and producibility issues.

- Evaluation and identification of materials and processes based on program specification, design, and performance requirements.
- Participate in integrated design elements, selecting and approving material usage and substrate finishes for new and emerging programs.
- Serve on a rapid response team addressing factory manufacturing process interruptions.
- Troubleshoot supplier material issues.
- Lead or collaborate in analyses and reporting documentation for alternate materials, obsolescence, and failure analyses.
- STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with mechanical assembly and technical datasheet analysis.
- Leadership experience as a technical lead in a rapid manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of material characteristics, application, selection, and design.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in STEM.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in presenting technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Superior multi‑discipline collaboration skills.
- Data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with material testing in an analytical laboratory environment.
The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, Employee Assistance Program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Additional incentives may be available through annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on level and collective‑bargaining agreement.
