Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for factory production support. The individual must be self-motivated and will work with a cross functional team including engineering, factory management, program management, and operations assembly and test. This position will reside in the Manufacturing Engineering department.

Your responsibilities will include evaluating test results of complex assemblies and determining root cause of failures. You will give directions for reworking and retesting failed assemblies. You will track trends to detect systemic problems. You will work closely with multiple functions such as manufacturing engineering, factory operations, and quality engineers to develop improvements in areas like yields, test procedures, cycle time, etc.

The work assignment will be a first-shift role, with core hours from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday with an optional 9/80 schedule. Occasional weekend work may be required to support factory operations.

What You Will Do
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting systems failing test, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Generate and sustain assembly instructions for products in the factory. This includes working with other subject matter experts to ensure instructions are aligned with requirements.

  • Support troubleshooting and repairs for sub-assemblies and systems for programs at McKinney CMC such as ATFLIR, Harpoon, EODAS, etc..

  • Investigate failure trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to address systemic issues.

  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting aids, tools, and documentation to support production and test processes.

  • Work initiatives focused on reducing cycle time, minimizing touch time, and optimizing overall production costs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges in production.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience

  • Experience reading mechanical drawings or electrical schematics

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience resolving issues with dimensional tolerances or testing and troubleshooting and documenting test results, experience writing instructions or procedures for a complex assembly

  • Experience using a CAD software such as Creo, experience with EO/IR systems in a production environment, knowledge of radio frequency (RF) product testing and/or Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) products.

  • Knowledge of common chemical processes used with mechanical assemblies such as anodizing, appropriate use of epoxy, standard cleaning methods, etc.

  • Experience designing experiments to troubleshoot failures or investigate production issues such as Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.

  • Active Secret Clearance
