Principal RF Engineer – RF, ASIC & MMIC Design Department, Raytheon. In this onsite role based in McKinney, TX, you will provide technical expertise in the analysis, design, fabrication, test, and integration of complex RF sub‑assemblies and RF Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) that support radar and datalink applications for a tactical missile program.

Job SummaryAs Principal RF Engineer you will collaborate with engineering disciplines, program leadership, and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, mission‑critical solutions that align with program goals and timelines.
What You Will Do- Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure all RF efforts meet program goals and requirements.
- Design and develop receivers, converters, and signal processors.
- Design circuit card assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.
- Create and ensure proper review of all documentation for the CCA, including analyses, schematics, interface drawings, test plans, and specifications.
- Perform schematic capture and review RF routing.
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams—power, digital, mechanical, etc.
- Work in a lab environment to accomplish component characterization, CCA verification, and integration.
- Conduct comprehensive RF CCA/module checkout in accordance with the developed test plan and validate against the requirements matrix.
- Ensure compliance with technical performance standards and program requirements.
- Periodic travel may be required.
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in RF technologies such as receivers, ADCs, down converters, and frequency synthesizers.
- Experience in RF, analog, digital, and power electronics design methodologies, integration & test, simulation, and analysis of RF products.
- Proficiency with tools including signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, Xpedition Schematic/Layout Tool or equivalent, System Vue/Genesys or equivalent, ADS or equivalent, HFSS or equivalent.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance required prior to start date.
- Ability to obtain interim U.S. government‑issued clearance prior to start date.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Highly self‑motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Experience architecting and defining requirements for complex RF products.
- Advanced understanding of RF and microwave system integration, system‑level trades, and performance optimization.
- Ability to prepare technical review documentation with minimal oversight.
- Strong knowledge of RF/Digital electronics and hands‑on experience across all phases of the product life‑cycle.
- Expertise in cascade analysis and/or frequency planning, CCA design and fabrication, high‑speed data converter test/characterization, RF hybrid technologies, writing proposals, and developing BOEs.
- Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
Salary range: $107,500
USD – $204,500
USD.
