The Principal Material and Process Engineer will serve as a lead within the Materials and Process (M&P) team supporting a variety of product lines in McKinney, Texas. The role involves material tests and analyses, production hardware empirical testing, special engineering assignments, emerging program technical supports, and new product integration activities. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams that include manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, supply chain, operation value stream, and program authority to resolve pressing technical design and producibility issues.
WhatYou Will Do
- Evaluation and identification of materials and processes based on program specifications, design and performance requirements.
- Part of an integrated team in design element, select and approve materials usage, substrate finishes in new and emerging programs.
- Part of a rapid response team that addresses factory manufacture process interruption.
- Lead supplier material troubleshoot issues.
- Lead or collaborate in analyses and reporting documentation of technical positions for alternate materials, obsolescence, and failure analyses.
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with mechanical assembly and technical datasheet.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead in a rapid manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of material characteristics, material application, material selection and design selection.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in STEM.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Superior multi-discipline collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with data-driven approaches.
- Experience with material testing in an analytical laboratory environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, teaming and problem-solving skills.
- Significant interaction with internal and external customers expected.
- Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities.
- Skilled at planning, prioritizing and executing projects/programs to successful completion.
The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, holidays, and others dependent on the specific business unit and collective‑bargaining status.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and depend on various performance factors.
This role is a U.S.–based role; applicable pay structure and benefits will adjust if the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory.
