Overview
RTX is the world s largest aerospace and defense company, with a long history of engineering and innovation. This posting describes an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Airborne & Ground Optics Department in McKinney, Texas. The role covers the mechanical design process from concept through model and drawing completion for mechanical components required to support product builds.
Some assembly of designs may be required. The candidate will work closely with Chief Engineers, Lead Engineers, and product engineers. The team seeks hands-on, adaptable, proactive individuals who communicate well and solve unique problems daily.
- Utilize RTX tools including CREO modeling software and Product Data Management (PDM).
- Provide design and documentation support using engineering tools, Adobe, and MS Office suite.
- Execute engineering change and drawing release processes.
- Perform analytical and technical engineering work within a program environment, with possible design presentations as needed.
- Train on Raytheon processes and procedures.
- Work may include building hardware in a lab environment.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of related experience.
- Experience in the design and prototyping of electromechanical systems.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (CREO, Solid Works, or equivalent).
- Experience planning, coordinating, and tracking small mechanical engineering projects involving three or more contributors, ensuring tasks meet technical requirements, schedules, and milestones.
- Project team leadership experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, including tolerancing knowledge.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from posting, subject to change. This is a U.S.
