Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Services Engineer
The Facilities Engineer will be an active member of the Engineering & Maintenance support team, serve as the primary point of contact for larger facility type projects involving outside contractors or in‑house services, and be responsible for the plant’s BMS systems and main backup on Fire Systems Activities.
Responsibilities- Be an active member of the Engineering & Maintenance support team.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for larger facility type projects involving outside contractors and/or in‑house services.
- Be responsible for the plant’s BMS systems and the main backup on Fire Systems Activities.
- Serve as a secondary resource as a Project Manager, providing backup on projects for all loading dock, plumbing, and HVAC repair projects and ensuring projects remain on schedule.
- Support a fast‑paced manufacturing facility by helping Maintenance & Operations solve problems and manage projects from conception to completion.
- Use internal maintenance management software to track projects.
- Estimate cost of work and develop proposals and schedules for new projects and planned work.
- Coordinate repairs to ensure all projects are executed safely, correctly and professionally.
- Analyze value of services received from existing and future contractors.
- Assist with document control activities within the engineering and maintenance group.
- Assist engineering department with large project planning & execution.
- Work closely with contractors of various disciplines as well as on‑site maintenance personnel to achieve successful project completion.
- Perform some projects at other Prysmian locations in the US.
- Engineering degree.
- Minimum 3+ years of Facilities Engineering experience.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, building systems, utilities, and repair procedures relating to facilities management.
- Good at prioritizing workload and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience reviewing specifications and developing proposals.
- Proven organizational and project management skills, along with effective communication skills.
- Good computing and software skills including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Experience working with hourly employees as well as exempt personnel in an industrial environment.
- Experience with Fire Systems, Cooling Towers, piping systems, and manufacturing facilities.
- Excellent organizational, filing, and record‑keeping skills.
- Self‑starter and a proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
