The Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM®) program is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary engineering and product development activities in an onsite role based in McKinney, Texas. The Chief Engineer will oversee several critical AMRAAM product areas, including Test Equipment (TE), the Extended Range AIM-120E-2 Transition Section (E2 TS), and the AIM-120D-4 / AIM-120C-9 Quadrature Target Detection Device (QTDD) and Data Link Electronics (DLE) subassemblies.
This work represents a major portion of the system-level development and integration required to deliver multiple next-generation missile variants. The combined McKinney technical team is expected to include approximately 150 personnel managing more than $250M in scope over a five-year period.
This position is 100% onsite in McKinney, TX.
What You Will Do- Partner with McKinney functional leaders to establish new AMRAAM Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Support the development of new AMRAAM facilities and engineering labs at the McKinney site.
- Define and manage product vision, strategy, and goals across multiple programs and customers, driving alignment and facilitating conflict resolution.
- Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPT and supporting functions to meet cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for senior program management and engineering leadership.
- Align internal and external stakeholders on technical capabilities, risks, and common architecture needs.
- Lead planning and execution of incremental upgrades and system improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement within the production environment, including participation in Failure Review Boards (FRBs), Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) activities, and related efforts.
- Engage technically with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables meet requirements.
- Direct a team of multi-discipline engineers supporting product development, integration, and production.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of ten (10) years of prior relevant experience prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience leading large technical teams, developing work plans, and driving execution.
- Experience in system development and design, requirements development and management, integration, verification, test, and transition to production.
- Experience working with modular system architectures and product lines.
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Prior AMRAAM program experience.
- Experience with RF systems.
- Test-driven, multidisciplinary capability management experience.
- Experience leading teams using Agile methods.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with program offices, cross-functional teams, and internal/external customers.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of 50+ personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present analytical and performance results to executive and functional leadership.
- Experience in large program execution.
- Raytheon Chief Engineer Level 4 or above.
