Principal Systems Administrator – McKinney, TX
Location:
McKinney, TX. Full‑time, onsite (100% onsite).
Security Clearance:
Active Secret clearance required prior to start date (U.S. citizenship mandatory).
Raytheon seeks a Principal Systems Administrator to support our mission by deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures. The role involves working in a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment with both Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
Responsibilities- Manage Red Hat Linux servers.
- Storage management.
- File server management.
- Access management.
- Data backup.
- Software and license configuration.
- Workstation support.
- Build new IT infrastructures for engineering groups.
- Strategize disaster recovery.
- Update virus definitions and security patches.
- Team with engineers to improve processes.
- Provide system administration in a heterogeneous Windows & Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
- Advanced understanding of Windows infrastructure services (DNS, file sharing protocols, DHCP, AD integration via LDAP, file system structures and permissions) and Linux distributions.
- Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve moderate to high‑scope technical problems, including OS and hardware integration.
- Perform data backup operations using appropriate technologies.
- Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
- Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
- Meet DoDD 8140 / 8570 certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) or obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience OR master’s degree with 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Active, in‑scope U.S. DoD Secret clearance.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Strong Linux administration experience.
- Experience with Active Directory, VMware, system hardening, disaster recovery.
- Knowledge of NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
- Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) & LDAP.
- Experience with security posturing tools such as SCAP, Nessus, Splunk, Symantec and other AV solutions.
- Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop solutions with documentation.
Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD (good‑faith estimate).
