Job Summary
Raytheon has an exciting IT position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are currently seeking a Principal Systems Administrator
, based in McKinney, TX, who will work onsite in a highly collaborative, multi‑platform and multi‑disciplinary environment. The Systems Administrator is required to have an active secret security clearance as they will be responsible for deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures. Daily activities include Red Hat Linux server management; storage management; file server management; access management; data backup; software and license configuration;
and workstation support.
- Provide system administration in a heterogeneous Windows & Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
- Manage Windows infrastructure services and Linux distributions, including DNS, file sharing protocols, DHCP, AD integration via LDAP, file system structures and permissions.
- Work as a team member in a fast‑paced technological environment, using troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including integration of hardware and operating systems.
- Utilize data backup technologies.
- Install and configure software applications for end users.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
- Maintain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).
- Full‑time 100% onsite position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or master’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Active and in‑scope US DoD secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Linux experience.
- Experience with one or more of:
Active Directory, VMware, system hardening, disaster recovery.
- Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
- Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) & LDAP.
- Experience with security posturing using tools such as SCAP, Nessus, Splunk, Symantec and other AV solutions, and system hardening.
- Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
- Able to troubleshoot and document solutions in real‑time.
We are offering relocation assistance. Salary range for this role is $86,800 USD – $165,200 USD. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education, and skills.
