This role is responsible for fabricating high-performance composite components used in drone airframes, including wings, fuselages, and structural assemblies.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with composite layup processes, vacuum bagging, and structural assembly. This role works closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure components meet strict performance and reliability standards required for aerospace‑grade drone systems.
Key Responsibilities- Fabricate composite UAV components using carbon fiber, fiberglass, and hybrid composite materials.
- Perform hand layup, vacuum bagging, and curing processes according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Prepare molds, tooling, and materials for composite production.
- Trim, sand, and finish cured parts to meet dimensional and cosmetic standards.
- Assist with bonding and structural assembly of drone airframes and subcomponents.
- Inspect parts for defects, fiber orientation accuracy, and structural integrity.
- Maintain accurate production records and follow quality assurance procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing efficiency and repeatability.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- 2+ years of experience in composite manufacturing or aerospace fabrication.
- Experience with carbon fiber or fiberglass layup processes.
- Familiarity with vacuum bagging, resin systems, and curing methods.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, laminate schedules, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Ability to use trimming, sanding, and finishing tools safely.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Basic math skills.
- Experience manufacturing UAV or aerospace composite structures.
- Foam core layup experience for sandwich composite structures.
- Familiarity with prepreg composite systems.
- Experience with resin infusion or resin transfer molding (RTM).
- Knowledge of lightweight structural design principles for drones.
- Experience working with aerospace‑grade adhesives and bonding techniques.
- Familiarity with CNC trimming or composite machining processes.
- Experience with CAD and/or Solidworks software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during manufacturing processes.
- Comfortable working with PPE, resins, and composite materials.
