Overview
Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) – PRN (As Needed) at Texas Oncology, McKinney location. Typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm, with no weekends, on‑call, or major holidays.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications and blood products using correct medication-blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license and current registration with the state board of nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Maintain continuing education requirements.
- Entry‑level – 0 to 3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology; oncology certification preferred.
The work environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Physical RequirementsRequires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range required.
