Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility: manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician's standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment.
Hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20 (US). Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, and location.
