Job Summary

The Tennis Shop Attendant supports the tennis experience for members and guests by promoting the game and the club’s offerings. Responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with merchandise selections, maintaining a well‑stocked shop, managing inventory, placing orders, and supporting overall shop operations.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Manager Tennis Shop or Head Tennis Professional
Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient and friendly customer service; process transactions at the register and check in players.
  • Respond to inquiries about lessons and court reservations, both in person and over the phone.
  • Assist members and guests with changes and last‑minute requests.
  • Keep the shop organized and clean; assist with merchandising and oversee tennis operations.
  • Perform closing business functions in accordance with club guidelines.
  • Ensure daily assignments are completed and maintain orderly work areas.
  • Handle inventory controls: check in merchandise, organize storage, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and follow up on special orders.
  • Process returned merchandise and issue proper credits.
  • Process daily invoices, ensuring accurate coding and scanning for timely payment.
  • Maintain accurate tennis member information, including the Buyers Club Plan Database and stringing records.
  • Actively promote tennis and the club while maintaining professionalism.
Additional Duties
  • Assist others and take on additional tasks as assigned.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage compliance.
  • Seek personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources and collaborate with teams.
  • Attend daily briefings and engage in required activities.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer‑facing experience, preferably in retail or sports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with tennis equipment, apparel, and accessories.
  • Experience in sales or retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and point‑of‑sale systems.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, place orders, and maintain a well‑organized shop environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
  • Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
  • Normal speaking, hearing, and vision.
Primary Tools / Equipment
  • Merchandise (5–30 lbs.)
  • Racquets (1–2 lbs.)
  • Computer, tablet, phone, etc.
Work Schedule
  • Adhere to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
  • Availability to work weekends and/or holidays.
