The Director of Security & Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the company's security program, ensuring compliance with U.S. Government security requirements while protecting company personnel, facilities, information, systems, and assets. This role serves as the designated Facility Security Officer and primary liaison with government security agencies, including the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), customer security offices, and other contractors.
The Director of Security provides strategic leadership for industrial security, personnel security, physical security, classified program security, insider threat compliance, and facility security operations. This position partners closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, Information Technology, Program Management, Contracts, and Operations to ensure security requirements are effectively integrated into business operations while supporting company growth and customer mission success.
The ideal candidate is a proactive security leader with extensive experience managing security programs in a cleared defense contractor environment and a strong understanding of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), NISPOM, DCSA requirements, and Department of Defense and Intelligence Community security regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead and oversee the company's enterprise security program across all locations and business units.
- Serve as the designated Facility Security Officer (FSO) in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with government and customer requirements.
- Advise executive leadership on security risks, compliance requirements, and emerging threats.
- Develop strategic security initiatives that support company growth, classified program expansion, and customer requirements.
- Establish and monitor security performance metrics and compliance objectives.
- Administer and maintain the company's facility clearance (FCL).
- Ensure compliance with NISPOM, DCSA requirements, Executive Orders, and applicable government security regulations.
- Have a working knowledge of Sensitive Compartmental Information Facility and Special Access Program Facility establishment, management, and audit requirements.
- Have a working knowledge of working with Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO) in managing and storing USG secure systems.
- Manage classified contracts and programs throughout the program lifecycle.
- Coordinate classified program start‑up activities, DD254 reviews, and security requirements implementation.
- Develop and maintain Standard Practice Procedures (SPPs), security plans, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct self‑inspections, vulnerability assessments, and corrective action planning.
- Prepare for and support DCSA inspections, assessments, and audits.
- Manage all personnel security activities including security clearances, investigations, reinvestigations, visit requests, indoctrinations, debriefings, and foreign travel reporting.
- Maintain compliance with clearance eligibility and access requirements.
- Oversee security onboarding and offboarding processes for cleared personnel.
- Ensure timely submission and maintenance of personnel security records within DISS and related systems to include iC systems.
