Portico has an amazing opportunity to join our team as a Maintenance Technician
. This position will be located at our apartment community,
Saxon Woods, in McKinney, TX
.
The Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the community’s physical integrity and ensuring resident satisfaction. This role completes service requests, performs preventive maintenance, prepares apartments for move-in, and maintains common areas and amenities in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Service Requests & Repairs
Respond to and complete service requests within 24 hours, addressing issues such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, and general repairs. - Communicate promptly with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding parts, vendor needs, or work that cannot be completed in-house.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
- Community Maintenance & Curb Appeal
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of community exteriors, common areas, pools, and amenities. - Support daily trash control, lighting, signage, irrigation, and access gate maintenance.
- Assist with weekend coverage as needed.
- Preventive Maintenance & Make-Ready
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on interior and exterior systems (filters, smoke detectors, HVAC, lighting, etc.). - Complete make-ready tasks, including unit trash-out, repairs, painting, and inspection prior to move-in.
- Ensure all work meets Portico quality standards and timelines.
- Safety & Compliance
Follow all Portico safety, key control, and emergency response procedures. - Participate in monthly safety meetings and maintain OSHA/EPA compliance logs.
- Report incidents, accidents, and property damage immediately.
- Resident & Team Relations
Deliver excellent customer service and communicate repair status to residents. - Collaborate with on-site and corporate team members, vendors, and contractors professionally.
- Attend daily and weekly staff meetings to stay informed on property goals and priorities.
- Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related trades. - Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred. - Certifications:
EPA and CPO certifications preferred; valid driver’s license and insurance required.
- Skills
Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. - Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and follow work orders and safety procedures.
- Proficiency in One Site, Yardi, or similar property management systems preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication a plus.
- Physical & Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks daily. - Exposure to varying weather conditions, chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
- Weekend, evening, and on-call shifts may be required.
