Maintenance Technician

Portico has an amazing opportunity to join our team as a Maintenance Technician
. This position will be located at our apartment community,
Saxon Woods, in McKinney, TX
.

The Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the community’s physical integrity and ensuring resident satisfaction. This role completes service requests, performs preventive maintenance, prepares apartments for move-in, and maintains common areas and amenities in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines.

• Service Requests & Repairs
  Respond to and complete service requests within 24 hours, addressing issues such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Communicate promptly with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding parts, vendor needs, or work that cannot be completed in-house.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

• Community Maintenance & Curb Appeal
  Maintain cleanliness and functionality of community exteriors, common areas, pools, and amenities.
• Support daily trash control, lighting, signage, irrigation, and access gate maintenance.
• Assist with weekend coverage as needed.

• Preventive Maintenance & Make-Ready
  Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on interior and exterior systems (filters, smoke detectors, HVAC, lighting, etc.).
• Complete make-ready tasks, including unit trash-out, repairs, painting, and inspection prior to move-in.
• Ensure all work meets Portico quality standards and timelines.

• Safety & Compliance
  Follow all Portico safety, key control, and emergency response procedures.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and maintain OSHA/EPA compliance logs.
• Report incidents, accidents, and property damage immediately.

• Resident & Team Relations
  Deliver excellent customer service and communicate repair status to residents.
• Collaborate with on-site and corporate team members, vendors, and contractors professionally.
• Attend daily and weekly staff meetings to stay informed on property goals and priorities.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 1 year of experience in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related trades.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Certifications:
  
  EPA and CPO certifications preferred; valid driver’s license and insurance required.

• Skills
  Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in One Site, Yardi, or similar property management systems preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication a plus.

• Physical & Work Environment
  Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks daily.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
• Weekend, evening, and on-call shifts may be required.
