Equipment Operator

RPM Utilities is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating heavy machinery to support utility installation, maintenance, and excavation projects. The ideal candidate has experience in underground utilities, understands job site safety, and can work efficiently in a team environment.

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, loaders, and trenchers
• Perform trenching, digging, grading, and back filling for utility installations
• Read and interpret job site plans, markings, and utility locates
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and follow all safety protocols
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Work closely with crew members and supervisors to complete projects on time
• Assist with general labor tasks as needed

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment required
• Experience in utility construction (water, sewer, storm, or telecom) preferred
• Ability to read site plans and understand grade/level requirements
• Strong awareness of safety practices and OSHA standards
• Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform physical tasks as needed
• Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
• Physically active role requiring lifting, climbing, and extended periods of equipment operation
• Fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
