Summary

Streets Maintenance Technician I (Job #9926, Level W1) responsible for general repair and maintenance of streets, drainage systems, signs, and signals under the supervision of the Streets Supervisor.

Salary

$42,431.01 – $61,526.40 annually ($20.39–$29.58 hourly).

Overview of Position

Perform general repair and maintenance of streets, drainage systems, signs, and signals. Prepare work areas, tools, and equipment, and may perform other related functions as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in all phases of streets, gutter drainage, and alley repair and construction.
  • Assist in preparing work areas and securing job sites by setting up cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices.
  • Assist in preparing tools, materials, and equipment necessary for various job assignments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools by cleaning and servicing regularly.
  • Make repairs in pavement, curb, gutter, and sidewalk using epoxy-based chemicals and products under supervision.
  • Operate simple to moderately complex equipment such as concrete vibrator, jack hammer, concrete saw, pavement grinder, and motorized/non-motorized hand tools.
  • Maintain operational records, schedules, and fill out work orders.
  • Respond to emergency situations after hours and/or on weekends.
  • Participate in establishing traffic control devices such as barricades and cones.
  • Guide traffic flow at work sites.
  • Assist with setup, teardown, and clean-up of special events and meetings throughout the City.
  • Conduct safety inspections of vehicles and equipment, set up barricades, cones, and road signs, and wear protective gear as indicated for the work assignment.
  • Assist other City employees during storms and national disasters.
  • Comply with all written City policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities by Assignment Asphalt
  • Assist with crack seal operations.
  • Assist with all asphalt finishing hand tools.
  • Assist with filling potholes with hot mix asphalt.
  • Assist with pavement reconstruction and repairs.
Concrete
  • Assist with setting up forms and rebar.
  • Assist crew members with small hand tools like shovels and concrete rakes.
Drainage
  • Assist with shooting elevations.
  • Assist with setting up forms and rebar.
  • Assist crew members with small hand tools.
  • Carry small debris from areas such as creeks and lakes.
