Technician I (#9923 W1) or Technician II (#9924 W2) – Annual salary $44,977.43 – $65,218.80;
Hourly $21.62 – $31.35.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform technically in one or any combination of the following: right‑of‑way (ROW) maintenance, household hazardous waste (HHW) collection, or debris hauling. Employees perform skilled, manual work, operate heavy equipment, and carry out related duties as directed by the supervisor.

• Perform routine right‑of‑way and vegetation maintenance using appropriate methods, techniques and safety precautions.
• Cut, trim, prune and chip trees, branches and brush.
• Collect and dispose of litter, garbage, trash and debris.
• Collect and store recycled office paper and similar materials.
• Operate and maintain pickup truck, dump truck, light to heavy equipment, brush chipper, chain saw, tree trimmer, shovel, rake, broom and related tools.
• Collect and dispose of illegally discarded solid waste.

• Arrange and conduct off‑site curbside collection of household hazardous waste.
• Identify, categorize, segregate, consolidate, lab‑pack, store and manifest household hazardous waste for shipment.
• Communicate and answer public questions, educating the public on the HHW collection program.
• Collect and dispose of illegally discarded hazardous waste.

• Drive and operate commercial truck and elliptical dump trailer, load debris using a wheel loader and deposit at landfill.

• Drive to and from destinations as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain good work habits, safety, and production.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions, complete work orders.
• Use good judgment for safe equipment use.
• Walk, stand, stoop and lift repeatedly for extended periods.
• Clean, wash, maintain and service tools and equipment.
• Lift and carry 50 to 100 pounds; pull, push or drag up to 150 pounds. Repetitive lifts up to 35 pounds.
• Be subject to after‑hours call‑outs, including weekends and holidays.
• Follow up on assignments to ensure completion.
• Assist other departments as necessary.
• Comply with all city policies and procedures.
• Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined by city attendance policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Knowledge of material, equipment and tools used in litter control and illegal dumping.
• Knowledge and skill in cutting tree limbs and brush.
