Pay Range: $20-$24/hour

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with the organization’s salary structure and budget.

About the Organization

The Samaritan Inn was founded in 1984 as a 10-bed single men’s homeless shelter. Since then, it has grown to become one of the largest shelters for our unhoused neighbors in North Texas. We serve single men, women, and families, with the capacity to serve up to 226 residents. We ensure housing stability through prevention, access, and comprehensive support, affirming dignity, strengthening independence, and cultivating a community rooted in care.

Summary

of the Job

The Empowerment Coach is responsible for providing comprehensive case management services to single residents, supporting their progress toward self-sufficiency and long-term stability. This role includes conducting assessments, developing and monitoring individualized case plans, coordinating care with community partners, and offering crisis intervention as needed. The Empowerment Coach maintains consistent communication with residents and agency staff to ensure holistic, compassionate support while ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including intake assessments, goal setting, treatment planning, money management support, advocacy, referrals, and ongoing progress monitoring from intake to exit.
  • Meet weekly with assigned residents to assess needs, support goal progress, and adjust case plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and service providers to ensure continuity of care and information sharing; obtain and maintain resident records.
  • Deliver timely documentation, including case notes, outcome evaluations, contact sheets, and service reports.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to residents when necessary.
  • Communicate resident needs and concerns clearly and professionally with Program Staff.
  • Provide referrals and liaise with other agencies on behalf of residents, including disqualified residents when applicable.
  • Attend weekly clinical meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Remain available beyond scheduled work hours for occasional questions or support needs from the Program Specialist.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least two years of case management experience.
  • Strong understanding of homelessness and the factors influencing housing instability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional licensure (LSW or LMSW) or eligibility preferred.
  • Experience in case management within a shelter, housing, or homeless services setting.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.

Work Environment
  • Fast-paced, client-centered shelter environment.
  • Requires ability to ascend and descend multiple stairs or ramps daily using feet and legs; hands and arms may be used for balance (e.g., using a handrail).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Flexible schedule required; may occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holidays based on program needs.
