Role OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer II – Embedded to join our development team in McKinney, TX.
What You Will Do- Support all aspects of the software development life cycle as a member of a multi‑disciplined team, including supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements to design, development, integration, test, and potential subsequent maintenance tasking.
- Use and provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
- Work closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
- Obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance and a Special Access Program security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Work onsite at McKinney, TX (relocation eligible).
- Occasional business‑related travel may be required.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of two years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in object‑oriented programming.
- Experience developing, testing, and integrating real‑time software applications written in C++ or closely related languages.
- Experience in Shell, Perl, or Python scripting.
- Active and transferable U.S. Government‑issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
- Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other real‑time operating systems.
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- Experience with product development using Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
- Experience with Dev Sec Ops pipeline implementation, including static code analysis, automated build, and automated test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with test‑driven development.
- Hands‑on experience with Git for version control and Git Lab for repository management.

The salary range for this role is USD 68,900 – 131,100. This estimate is a good‑faith representation of all experience levels. RTX considers role, function, responsibilities, experience, location, education or training, and key skills when extending an offer.
Additional Information- Relocation eligible – relocation assistance available.
- Onsite – employees who are working in onsite roles will work primarily onsite.
- This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, adjudicates the clearance process. For more information, see the U.S. Department of State website.
