Software Engineer II – Embedded

Raytheon North Texas is seeking a Software Engineer II – Embedded to join our development team in McKinney, Texas. The role requires onsite work and an active U.S. Secret clearance.

• Support all phases of the software development life cycle with a cross‑functional team, from concept and requirements through design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of both new and legacy military and commercial programs.
• Design and implement creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration challenges, collaborating closely with Systems Engineers to meet end‑user and operational requirements.
• Develop, test, and integrate real‑time software applications using C++ (or closely related languages) on platforms such as Linux, VxWorks, or other real‑time operating systems.
• Write and maintain scripts in Shell, Perl, or Python to support development and operations.
• Participate in Agile Scrum activities, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous integration/continuous delivery practices such as static code analysis, automated builds, and automated testing.
• Use Git for version control and Git Lab for repository management.
• Demonstrate the ability to rapidly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
• Manage multiple priorities concurrently and deliver high‑quality code on schedule.

Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance required on day one. U.S. citizenship is mandatory as only U.S. citizens can obtain a clearance.

• Minimum 2‑year relevant experience in object‑oriented programming.
• Experience developing, testing, and integrating real‑time software in C++ (or related languages).
• Experience with Shell, Perl, or Python scripting.
• Proficiency in working with Linux and/or VxWorks environments; familiarity with real‑time operating systems preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams.
• Working knowledge of Agile Scrum and Dev Sec Ops  pipelines.
• Proficient use of Git and Git Lab.
• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in laboratory environments with physical hardware, such as test benches or simulators (preferred).

Onsite position in McKinney, Texas. Relocation assistance available. Occasional business‑related travel may be required.

Base salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD.
