The Software organization develops the applications that drive missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems, as well as the integration and test software. These applications integrate firmware, operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control capabilities to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.

Raytheon has an opportunity for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Surveillance Sensor Radio Frequency (RF) Solutions Engineering Team in the Dallas, TX area. As part of the Software Engineering Space and Air Center team, you will be an integral part of helping Raytheon further our vision to be the global leader in core and next‑generation defense and security solutions.

Security ClearanceDoD Clearance:
Secret. Active and existing clearance required after day 1.
- Architect, design, implement, test, and debug integrated embedded real‑time software within heterogeneous systems composed of firmware and hardware.
- Work within a cross‑discipline team to define, refine, and improve product concept, implementation, testability, and guaranteed, measurable quality.
- Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff.
- Contribute to proposals as well as preliminary and critical design reviews.
- Occasional business‑related travel, up to 10%.
- Work onsite in McKinney, TX; applicants must be in the area or willing to relocate.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real‑time software applications written in C++ or closely related languages.
- Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real Time Operating Systems.
- Experience developing complex systems involving the integration of hardware, firmware, and software.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
- Experience with Dev Sec Ops pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test‑Driven Development approach.
- Hands‑on experience with Git for version control and Git Lab or Artifactory for repository management.
