Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payable operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Mclean, Virginia. This fully remote role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing high-volume invoice activity, maintaining accurate financial records, and working through detailed manual tasks with consistency. The position offers the chance to contribute to a busy accounting function by keeping payment processes organized, timely, and precise.

Responsibilities:

- Process invoices from receipt through final posting while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper coding

- Enter accounts payable information into the system and maintain well-organized supporting records for audit readiness

- Track invoice activity, payment status, and outstanding items using Excel to support visibility across the AP workflow

- Perform account reconciliations to identify discrepancies, research variances, and resolve issues in a timely manner

- Manage a high volume of manual payable tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines

- Collaborate with internal teams to clarify invoice questions, confirm approvals, and support smooth payment processing

- Use SAP and Microsoft Office tools to update records, monitor transactions, and assist with routine reporting needs Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role

- Hands-on experience with full-cycle invoice processing, including coding, entry, and payment tracking

- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office, especially Excel for monitoring and organizing payable data

- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Experience completing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies efficiently

- Solid understanding of core accounting functions and accounts payable best practices

- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while managing multiple priorities effectively
