What You Will Do
The senior accountant will support the advisory team in providing a blend of financial management related advisory support services to assist the day-to-day federal financial management operations to include technical accounting and financial reporting activities at a federal client. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of technical and general ledger accounting and preparations of federal financial statements and notes.
- Read, interpret and develop financial management regulatory and/or accounting guidance and procedural documents.
- Verify the accuracy, completeness, and validity of a wide variety of accounting functions/transactions including fund balance with Treasury, accounts receivable, obligations, accrued expenditures, disbursements, appropriation refunds, reimbursable orders, earnings, collections, eliminations, and journal vouchers.
- Prepare and review documents from varied sources for accuracy, validity, expenditure limitation, and correct accounting data; balancing and maintaining the subsidiary ledgers; performing various reconciliations such as un-liquidated contractual obligations, fund balance with Treasury, accounts receivable, unfilled customer orders, and other USSGL accounts.
- Develop point papers, briefing materials, graphical presentations, and to make formal oral presentations of these materials to all levels of government personnel.
- Educate and inform management in the various alternatives for delivery of financial/operational services.
- Research and implement best practices to remediate and advise on audit findings and internal control deficiencies.
- Provide clear technical direction and guidance to all lower-level personnel, as applicable.
- Research and implement best practices to make recommendations for improved business processes (operational and transactional).

- Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
