RSM is seeking a Director, Financial Investigations and Disputes (Litigation and Commercial Damages) to join our Financial Investigations and Disputes practice. This role is ideal for an accomplished professional leading complex commercial litigation, economic damages, lost profits, and business dispute engagements. As a trusted advisor, you will help clients navigate high-stakes disputes by delivering sophisticated financial analyses, damages assessments, expert support, and litigation consulting services.
You will play a key role in driving engagement delivery, developing client relationships, mentoring team members, and contributing to the continued growth of a nationally recognized disputes practice.
As a Director, you will lead and manage commercial litigation and damages consulting engagements across a variety of industries. You will work directly with clients and legal counsel to analyze complex financial matters, quantify economic damages, prepare expert reports, and support litigation and dispute resolution efforts.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead engagements involving commercial litigation, economic damages, lost profits, business interruption, fraud-related matters, and complex business disputes. Direct financial analyses and develop defensible damages models used in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and settlement proceedings. Manage the preparation of expert reports, rebuttal analyses, exhibits, and supporting work papers. Serve as a primary point of contact with attorneys, corporate counsel, insurance carriers, and client leadership.
Support deposition and trial preparation efforts, including development of expert testimony and litigation strategy support. Develop and maintain strong client relationships that generate repeat business and referral opportunities. Collaborate with professionals across Risk Consulting, Valuation Services, Transaction Advisory Services, Technology Consulting, Audit, and Tax to deliver integrated client solutions. Mentor, coach, and develop associates, senior associates, and managers within the practice.
Contribute to business development initiatives, thought leadership, and marketplace visibility efforts. Travel as needed to support client engagements and business development activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree 9-12 years of experience in commercial litigation consulting, economic damages, forensic accounting, business valuation, financial investigations, or related dispute advisory services. Professional certification (examples include: CPA, ABV, CFA, ASA) Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Preferred QualificationsSignificant experience performing and overseeing analyses related to:
Commercial damages Lost profits Economic damages Business interruption claims Contract disputes Valuation-related disputes Complex commercial litigation matters Experience preparing expert reports and supporting attorneys through litigation, arbitration, mediation, and settlement processes.
