Position: Client Relationship Executive (DHS)

The Client Relationship Executive (CRE) at Steampunk is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and advancing customer relationships that directly generate new business. This CRE role is responsible for identifying leads, qualifying opportunities, and closing deals with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clients.

Contributions
  • Client-facing focus on lead generation and opportunity qualification through development of mature customer relationships; requires a track record of sales achievement.
  • Analyze industry trends and competitive landscape; research new opportunities and potential partners that align with corporate strategy; build relationships with new clients, partners, and vendors to accelerate growth in new accounts.
  • Participate in government‑relevant industry associations to build brand awareness and cultivate broad relationships for future business pursuits.
  • Drive to meet new people, thirst for understanding their environment, and interpersonal skills as an active listener who asks probing and relevant questions to shape opportunities.
  • Conduct analysis of competitive and industry trends to identify new vehicles, opportunity pipeline and partnerships.
  • Work with capture resources to develop the overall win strategy and perform associated opportunity marketing.
  • Develop, organize, and execute client call plans, assess win probability, and work with clients to shape acquisition strategies to respond to and win business with new and existing customers.
  • Represent Steampunk within industry associations/groups to increase brand awareness and develop strategic relationships with new partners and vendors.
  • Interact routinely with all levels of Steampunk’s sector, division, and operations management, staff, and customers, own, prioritize, and follow through on action items.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IT business development or sales.
  • Demonstrated experience in navigating federal acquisition processes successfully.
  • Successful track record of identifying and closing opportunities.
  • Strong organization, presentation, and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Preferred experience with the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, or Department of Justice; open to other federal agencies where established relationships exist.
