Senior Business Manager
Summary:
As a Senior Business Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. This role is within Capital One’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team. Success in AML stops criminal activity such as narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorist financing, while giving the company the confidence to grow and launch new products knowing we have sound and reliable AML defenses.
An ideal candidate would have a background in, and a passion for, Financial Planning & Analysis, analytical storytelling, executive communication, tackling challenging problems, and partnering with high-performing analyst teams horizontally across the organization.
General Responsibilities:
- Financial and business performance reporting and variance analysis
- Forecasting accuracy/cost management
- Ensure financial management of operating expenses; proactively identify and resolve financial issues
- Communicate financial performance, business planning, and analytical approaches to executive audiences
- Provide strategic insights and suggest actions to business and finance partners
- Leverage sound business judgment to evaluate analytical results and formulate recommendations
- Create connections across the team and organization to drive collaboration
- Business ownership:
Have an ownership mindset including strategic planning with a 1-6 month horizon - Execution:
Coordinate across the lines of business to communicate expense drivers and risk mitigation strategies - Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity:

Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills - Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)
- At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis
- At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis
- At least 1 year of experience in people management
- At least 1 year of experience in project management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis
- 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis
- 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Business Manager
Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Business Manager
