Principal Risk Specialist, Audit & Exam Facilitation
As a Principal Risk Specialist in the Capital One Card Risk Office, you will serve as a strategic advisor, partnering with business leaders to identify and mitigate enterprise‑level risks. In this first‑line‑of‑defense role you will help maintain organizational discipline and ensure operations remain well‑managed and profitable.
Responsibilities- Own and support centralized management of audit & exam engagements, coordinating with key internal stakeholders.
- Establish and manage engagement structures, including milestone meetings, folder organization and communication channels.
- Lead stakeholder communication and alignment, delivering initial and ongoing communications and facilitating engagement overview meetings.
- Oversee request management and documentation, ingesting, assigning and tracking initial requests/ARs in AERO.
- Drive towards timely completion and delivery, tracking key internal dates and escalating as needed.
- Facilitate reporting and analytics, preparing written reports and delivering oral presentations on identified issues and remediation actions.
- Coordinate internal processes and governance, developing, coordinating and maturing internal processes and program governance.
- Resolve impediments and support organizational priorities, ensuring timely delivery of key deliverables.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of risk management experience.
- At least 2 years of project management experience.
- At least 2 years of experience supporting and partnering with internal business clients.
- At least 1 year of experience reporting and analyzing data.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree.
- 3+ years of project management experience leading cross‑functional projects and programs in risk.
- 4+ years of risk management experience.
- 2+ years of experience reporting and analyzing data.
- 1+ year of people management experience.
- Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).
- Lean, Agile, Six Sigma or Business Process Management experience.
- PMP or Master’s Certificate of Project Management (CPM).

Salary ranges for this role:
McLean, VA – $120,800 – $137,900;
Richmond, VA – $109,900 – $125,400. This role is eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
