Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a CAV Tech Transfer Engineer to join a high‑impact engineering team advancing next‑generation connected & automated vehicle (CAV) technologies. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence
. The CAV Tech Transfer Engineer will support technology transfer, stakeholder engagement, testing, & deployment activities that accelerate nationwide adoption of vehicle‑to‑vehicle (V2V, vehicle‑to‑infrastructure (V2I), and Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA) technologies.
- Provide technical assistance to researchers, government agencies, & industry stakeholders on deploying & operating ITS, V2X, CAV, & CDA technologies, including support for open‑source tools such as V2X Hub & CAV message creator utilities
- Troubleshoot, configure, & validate connected vehicle hardware & software systems, including Ous, RSUs, networking equipment, & transportation simulation tools
- Perform hands‑on engineering work with COTS devices, traffic signal controllers, CAV equipment & real‑world testbeds, including prototyping, assembly, & system configuration
- Support project execution through documentation, stakeholder outreach, customer interaction, & contributions to project planning & direction
- Conduct lab & field operations, such as equipment setup, safety driver duties, & maintenance of testbeds & laboratory assets
- Lead & support community‑of‑practice activities, workshops, & technology transfer initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Automotive, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of technical experience in configuring, integrating, or testing V2X/ITS equipment
- Experience engaging stakeholders & communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical & non‑technical audiences
- Working knowledge of connected vehicle communication standards & familiarity with transportation or communication systems
- Hands‑on ability to test & troubleshoot complex power, communication, or networking systems
- Active Public Trust clearance
- Salary: $80,000–$110,000 (depending on experience)
