Job Description
Fuel is seeking a Data Engineer to manipulate data and data flows for both existing and new systems. The role involves providing support in data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL), data mapping, data extraction, analytical support, operational support, database support, and maintenance of data and related systems. Candidates will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that emphasizes process improvement and requires experience with large-scale database development, large-scale file manipulation, data modeling, data mapping, data testing, data quality, and documentation.
Responsibilities include:
Develop complex data flows or significantly enhance existing pipelines.Resolve hardware/software compatibility and interface design issues.Conduct complex investigations and tests.Research emerging technologies for their impact on application performance.Assist in writing and updating technical documentation.Troubleshoot complex problems and support the ETL process.Advise hardware engineers on machine characteristics affecting software systems.Prepare reports on analyses, findings, and project progress.Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers.May serve as a technical team or project leader.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.10+ years of software engineering and ETL experience.Experience with data flows in NiFi or Pentaho.Strong organizational, coordination, interpersonal, and team-building skills.Proficiency in Java/J2EE, C, C++, SQL, XML, XQuery, XPath, Ruby on Rails, HTML/XHTML, CSS, Python, Shell Scripting, JSON.Knowledge of Windows, Linux, distributed computing, blade centers, and cloud infrastructure.Strong problem-solving skills.Understanding of database methodologies.Focus on continuous process improvement and proactive problem solving.Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks.Top Secret Clearance with FS Polygraph.About Fuel
