Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer to support a company focused on designing, building, operating, and maintaining cyber-physical solutions for the nation's most mission-critical facilities and secure environments. This position is on-site in Tysons, VA. The Fire Alarm Engineer will support the design, programming, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle execution of fire detection, alarm, mass notification, and life safety systems across complex infrastructure projects.
This role directly supports national security and public safety by ensuring resilient, code-compliant life safety systems are delivered with precision and reliability. Responsibilities for the Fire Alarm Engineer include:
* Lead programming, in-house testing (PITCO), troubleshooting, and commissioning of fire detection, alarm, and mass notification systems
* Develop training frameworks, mentor technicians and engineers, and lead lessons-learned and commissioning activities
* Produce shop drawings, calculations, takeoffs, bills of material, commissioning artifacts, and close-out documentation
* Perform site surveys, maintain as-builts, manage punch lists, and support project schedules and quality control
* Ensure all deliverables comply with IBC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101 codes while supporting project execution and customer coordination
Required Qualifications for the Fire Alarm Engineer include:
* 2+ years of experience supporting fire alarm, life safety, or similar engineering programs and contracts
* Proficiency with fire alarm system programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting (Notifier and VESDA preferred)
* Strong communication, organization, documentation, and cross-disciplinary coordination skills
* Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
* NICET Level II Fire Detection and Alarm certification
* Active or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance Compensation for the Fire Alarm Engineer include:
* Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience
