Environment Safety Specialist
Perform general environmental and/or safety support services, investigations and analyses. Acts as lead investigator or project manager on primary ES&H projects.
Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional extended hours and weekend work as needed.
Direct the activities of other ES&H professionals in performing analytical and scientific investigative studies related to ecology or environmental science.
Review literature in the fields of environment, safety, and related fields and make decisions on the adequacy and merit of ongoing investigations
Design or select methodology to be used in the analysis of unique or complex data collected from ES&H investigations, gathered from literature, and performs or directs analyses, as required.
Certify compliance with applicable environmental regulations and protocols.
Maintain a working knowledge of statutory requirements related to the environmental, safety, and/or health regulations.
Make decisions on methodology for work completion for complex tasks, the failure of which may pose high environmental or socioeconomic risk.
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in occupational safety and health, fire protection engineering, or environmental compliance and restoration management.
Processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position may require travel.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Fire Protection Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Ability to obtain Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification within 12 months of employment.
