Overview
Senior Associate, Risk Management (Credit Card Intent)
This role will be responsible for analyzing customer transactions to confirm whether the customers received the correct credit decisioning. The Senior Associate will perform this analysis by comparing customer transaction data, provided by Data Analysts, against the documented credit policies and determining if the customers were appropriately approved or declined, based on the documentation. The Senior Associate will summarize the results, including issues with data and credit policy documentation, and any key themes or insights for leadership.
This role is a critical element of the first-line risk management framework that monitors execution of credit policy, ensures accurate documentation of policy, and prevents potential customer and business losses. The ideal candidate is someone who loves to learn, appreciates the intersection of business and risk and excels at collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Perform testing of applications, line increase decisions, authorizations, etc. to determine if intent met execution based on documented credit policy
- Manage testing schedules to ensure all tasks and reporting are completed within established timelines
- Analyze data from multiple sources and document the work including drafting testing issues and results
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Business Teams, Data Providers, and Risk Partners
- Identify and execute new testing strategies to enable efficiency
- Escalate issues with direct team and support remediation efforts
- Communicate testing results to Credit Officers, and other senior management
- Support the production of management reports on intent documentation gaps, testing results, and remediation plans
- Support internal assessments conducted by Credit Risk Management, Credit Review, and external regulatory exams
- Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on ad-hoc basis
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
- At least 1 year of experience in Transaction Testing, Compliance Testing, Risk Management, or Project Management
- At least 1 year working with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- 2+ years of experience in Transaction Testing, Compliance Testing, or Risk Management
- 2+ years working with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- 1+ years of experience in financial services
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or a quantitative field

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Risk Associate
Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Risk Associate
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
