Position Overview

Risk Manager – Card Vertical Risk Management, Capital One.

As a Risk Manager in Capital One’s Card business, you will apply your risk, project management, and analytical skills to drive strategy and execute on high‑priority platform modernization projects. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that directly impact the company’s bottom line.

• Serve as a liaison, interfacing with business partners, technology and other assurance functions such as legal and compliance to drive meaningful reductions in risk.
• Synthesize data and reporting; perform analysis and bring valuable business insights through evaluation of data provided by team analysts.
• Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes.
• Assess controls, and glean insights from issues and events across business areas.
• Manage, implement, and deliver on key program deliverables.

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
• At least 3 years of risk‑management experience.
• At least 2 years of project or process‑management experience.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering with, and interacting with internal business clients.

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• 5+ years of project‑management experience leading cross‑functional projects and programs in risk.
• 4+ years of risk‑management experience.
• 2+ years of experience in reporting and analyzing data.
• PMP Certification or Master’s Certificate of Project Management (CPM).
• Professional certifications within risk management and/or assurance (e.g., Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Internal Auditor).

• McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 per year.
• Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 per year.
• Other locations:
  Salary range associated with that location will be specified in the offer letter.
• Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or nondiscretionary depending on the plan.
