Principal Associate, Finance Risk Management
Finance Risk Management (FRM) functions as the business risk office for Capital One’s Finance division. As a Principal Associate in FRM, this role requires excellent communication, strong problem solving, independent judgment, and the ability to manage changing priorities while fostering a culture of robust risk management across Finance.
Job Responsibilities- Promote proactive risk management initiatives to reduce residual risk.
- Lead FRM’s engagement activities on process‑level assessments, internal audits, and regulatory commitments for assigned areas.
- Support business partners through major enterprise change initiatives.
- Drive risk management initiatives to completion, execute roadmaps that improve risk management practices, and solve complex problems under tight deadlines.
- Provide regular and open communication for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments.
- Stay current on effective risk management, process and control effectiveness strategies.
- Understand business partner risk profiles and identify strategic and emerging risks.
- Manage cross‑organizational work to address competing priorities and achieve results.
- Communicate with and influence leadership on key process risks and actions needed.
- Build and leverage productive relationships with Finance stakeholders to promote a resilient operational posture and act as a change agent.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Audit, Accounting, or a combination.
- At least 2 years of experience working in Financial Services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certification.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
- 2+ years of project management experience.
- 2+ years of risk management experience within banking or financial services.
- 2+ years of experience in an audit‑related field, first or second line risk management, accounting, or business process and control advisory.
Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives. Salary ranges:
McLean, VA – $131,300 to $149,800;
Richmond, VA – $119,400 to $136,200.
