Position OverviewRSM US LLP is looking for a dynamic M&A/Financial Instruments Tax Manager to join our growing national M&A Tax practice. This role provides advice to clients and firm personnel in the areas of financial instruments, corporate, and M&A tax, advising on topics such as recapitalization, restructuring, bankruptcy, classification, sales and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, hedging, and more.
Responsibilities- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, and communicate findings and opportunities to clients.
- Identify and develop high‑value tax opportunities for clients.
- Assist clients on a range of financial instrument and related M&A tax issues such as recapitalization, restructuring, bankruptcy transactions, classification, sales, and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, and hedging transactions.
- Plan, manage, and execute advice engagements with limited supervision.
- Develop, motivate, and train team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited university.
- Active CPA license in the state of residence or primary office; or active Enrolled Agent (EA) license; or active Attorney license.
- Minimum of six years of tax experience in public accounting, with the ability to identify, sell, and deliver tax services to middle‑market clients.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards.
- Effective communication skills with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic and written means.
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously; meet deadlines; and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast‑paced, client‑service environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including sitting for extended periods and working at a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to maintain a consistent onsite presence during core business hours, including regularly reporting to a firm office location and traveling to client sites as required, with access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work extended and/or non‑standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs.
- Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters across various industries.
- Master’s degree in Taxation.
Salary range: $133,500 – $268,400. Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
