EY-Parthenon – Senior Associate, Quantitative Finance & Economics

Key Responsibilities
  • Support testifying experts in commercial litigation matters, preparing expert reports, rebuttal reports, and materials for depositions and trial.
  • Build valuation and damages models and perform analyses using Python and other statistical tools.
  • Research industries, markets, and individual companies relevant to litigation and merger matters.
  • Conduct economic and econometric analysis in support of liability, damages, and class certification.
  • Advise clients and counsel on the antitrust review of mergers and acquisitions, including relevant market definition and competitive effects.
  • Develop and apply econometric and quantitative models, including HMT/SSNIP analyses, GUPPI and upward pricing pressure measures, merger simulation, and diversion ratio estimation.
  • Prepare and present findings to internal teams, clients, and counsel, and support experts in regulatory submissions and before competition authorities.
  • Work with clients and counsel to establish clear, well‑documented analytical processes and work papers that withstand scrutiny.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of related work experience; or a graduate degree and at least 1 year of related work experience; or an advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in economics, finance, statistics, econometrics, mathematics, financial engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in one or both of the following, with strength in at least one:
    • Economic consulting for litigation: preparing expert reports, supporting depositions and trial testimony, damages and valuation analysis, class certification work, and presenting analytical results.
    • Economic antitrust for merger approvals: M&A deal clearance, relevant market definition, and econometric modeling, including the hypothetical monopolist test (HMT), GUPPI, merger simulation, and competitive effects analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Python.
  • Solid foundation in microeconomics, industrial organization, and business and complex securities valuation.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, or Capital IQ is a plus.
  • Experience working with large datasets is a plus.
  • Ability to work within a given budget and schedule, providing top‑quality results in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing multiple tasks, deadlines, and project stakeholders.
  • A strong work ethic, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment full of new challenges and ideas.
  • You must either reside in or be in a commutable distance to your office location for this position.
  • Willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting testifying experts in litigation or regulatory proceedings.
  • Familiarity with the merger review process before U.S. and international competition authorities.
  • Progress toward or achievement of a CFA, FRM, PRM, or ASA/AM designation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage firm‑approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.
What We Offer
  • A comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary range for this role in U.S. geographic locations is $113,100 to $186,700, with specific ranges for New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento).
