Tax Manager
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to lead and execute complex corporate tax initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. This role is responsible for tax compliance, provision and reporting (ASC 740 / IAS 12), cross-border tax planning, M&A tax structuring, transfer pricing documentation, indirect and state & local tax matters, and tax controversy management. The ideal candidate combines technical depth in international tax and tax accounting with strong project management, technology and stakeholder communication skills to drive risk-managed, efficient tax operations and support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, local and international tax returns and related filings, ensuring timely and accurate compliance across jurisdictions.
- Lead the tax provision process (ASC 740 / IAS 12) including quarterly and annual calculations, tax provision reconciliations and disclosures; manage tax provision software and month-end/quarter-end close activities.
- Develop and maintain Effective Tax Rate (ETR) models, tax forecasting and budgeting to support financial planning and executive reporting.
- Provide strategic cross-border tax planning and guidance on inbound/outbound transactions, cash repatriation, treasury tax issues, and tax-efficient legal entity structuring.
- Support and lead M&A tax due diligence, structuring and integration activities, including purchase price allocations, tax structuring recommendations and post-close tax accounting.
- Manage transfer pricing policy, documentation and intercompany pricing analyses; coordinate with external advisors on benchmarking and documentation (including BEPS / OECD / CbCR requirements).
- Oversee state & local tax (SALT), indirect tax (VAT/GST/sales & use) and withholding tax matters, identifying exposures and implementing remediation strategies.
- Lead tax controversy and audit responses, coordinate with external counsel and tax authorities, and manage tax risk and governance processes.
- Identify and implement tax process improvements and automation opportunities using tax technology (ONESOURCE, Corp Tax, Vertex) and ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Workday, intercompany workflows).
- Prepare tax analyses and actionable recommendations for senior leadership, finance and business stakeholders; present tax positions for Board/IPO/SEC reporting as needed.
- Coordinate R&D tax credit calculations and incentive capture efforts; support specialty incentives and credits across jurisdictions.
- Mentor and train junior tax staff; create and deliver tax training materials for finance and business teams.
- Collaborate with finance, treasury, legal and FP&A to ensure tax alignment with broader corporate objectives and financial reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
Masters in Tax or Accounting is a plus. - CPA or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred; active licensure or ability to obtain within a defined period.
- Minimum 6-10 years of progressive corporate tax experience with demonstrable international / cross-border tax exposure.
- Deep technical knowledge of tax compliance and reporting (US federal, state & local, and international), ASC 740 / IAS 12 tax provision and tax accounting.
- Experience with M&A tax structuring, tax due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities.
- Proven experience in transfer pricing, documentation and BEPS/OECD / CbCR-related matters.
- Hands-on experience with indirect tax (VAT/GST/sales & use), withholding tax and SALT matters.
- Experience managing tax controversy and audit engagements with tax authorities and external advisors.
- Strong experience with tax technology platforms (Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Corp Tax, Vertex) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday); experience integrating tax workflows and tax provision software.
- Advanced Excel skills (including VBA); familiarity with SQL and business intelligence tools (Power BI / Tableau) for tax analytics and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to build ETR models, tax forecasting, cash repatriation scenarios and tax risk models.
- Experience capturing R&D tax credits and other incentives; familiarity with tax policy, treaty interpretation and tax governance frameworks.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and project management skills; ability to explain technical tax issues to non-tax audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional projects and mentor junior staff; travel as required.
