Business Manager – Modeling and Advanced Data Insights

The Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) Modeling and Advanced Data Insights team is modernizing how Capital One identifies potential money laundering, terrorist financing, and human trafficking through advanced analytic techniques, statistics, and machine learning models. The team develops data sourcing, predictive models, monitoring, and reporting using tools such as AWS, Snowflake, Python, and Spark. In this role, you will develop and deploy end‑to‑end transaction‑monitoring models with machine learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead advanced machine learning model development, continuous performance monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Oversee model governance and ensure alignment with internal risk frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary lead for handling all related internal audit and OCC regulatory requests.
  • Develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
  • Manage and develop 1‑2 analysts, coaching and mentoring associates to retain talent.
  • Lead product and pricing strategy development for various lending products, including product‑level modeling and analytics.
  • Lead direct‑to‑consumer marketing efforts for select products and provide strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel.
  • Create insights to inform new customer experiences, breakthrough technology, and go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Drive improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, building risk models, and testing hypotheses.
  • Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements, and execute against the product strategy.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects and programs.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and others to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.
  • Apply strong analytical, quantitative orientation and strategic decision‑making based on data.
  • Foster innovation and hold business partners accountable, delivering results consistently.
  • Communicate effectively, influencing stakeholders through strong written and oral skills.
  • Drive and execute an agenda in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration, obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree in Business or a quantitative field; 5+ years of analysis experience; 2+ years in financial services; 2+ years in people management; 1+ year in consulting; 1+ year in AML, sanctions, compliance, risk or fraud; 1+ year of model design, development, and deployment experience; 1+ year with supervised machine learning models; 1+ year of experience with Python, SQL, or AWS.
Salary and Benefits

Salary ranges by location:
McLean, VA: $164,800–$188,100;
Plano, TX: $149,800–$171,000;
Richmond, VA: $149,800–$171,000. The role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives. Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.
