Director, Investment Due Diligence and Portfolio Management

Our client is a growing investment services organization based in Northern VA with a portfolio of investments spanning small businesses and early-stage startups. Their team is committed to delivering best-in-class due diligence and operational excellence to ensure sound investment decisions and long-term client success.

This role will play a key role in supporting the investment due diligence on potential investments into small and emerging businesses. This individual will assist in gathering, analyzing, and reviewing information, preparing due diligence reports for evaluation by the investment committee. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in financial markets and investment operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed due diligence on potential capital investments (e.g., private equity, investment banking, asset-based lending (ABL), M&A advisory, transaction advisory, structured finance, private credit, family offices, etc.)
  • Assist in evaluating investment strategies, underwriting and credit risk modeling
  • Collect, organize, and analyze financial statements, offering documents, and compliance materials.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive due diligence reports and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor existing investments for ongoing performance and operational updates.
  • Support the review and approval process for new investment offerings and updates to existing ones.
  • Maintain databases and due diligence tracking systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Requires 6-10 years of relevant experience in investment due diligence, asset management, research, or financial analysis preferred.
  • Familiarity with alternative investments, asset-based lending, fund structures, and financial reporting is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong sense of accountability.
